WWE Veteran Explains Why Seth Rollins Will Win at Clash in Paris

Former WWE writer Vince Russo believes Seth Rollins will successfully defend his World Heavyweight Championship in Paris, arguing the timing is wrong for a title change after the champion's controversial win at SummerSlam.

WWE Veteran Explains Why Seth Rollins Will Win at Clash in Paris

According to WWE veteran Vince Russo, Seth Rollins is a lock to retain his World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday. Speaking on the latest episode of Writing with Russo, he stated that it would be illogical for the company to end Rollins’ reign so soon.

Russo’s reasoning is tied directly to the controversial manner in which Rollins won the title at SummerSlam. He referenced Rollins’ “surprising trick” of feigning an injury to cash in his Money in the Bank contract on CM Punk, who had just won the belt. “It doesn’t make any sense for them to take the belt off of Rollins at this point,” Russo said.

The champion is set to defend his title in a volatile Fatal 4-Way match at Clash in Paris on Sunday, August 31. His opponents will be the man he took the title from, CM Punk, alongside former World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso and former United States Champion LA Knight.

Each challenger has a well-established history with the champion. Punk is seeking direct revenge for having his title reign cut short, while both Uso and Knight have had their own recent run-ins with Rollins and his faction, The Vision, which also includes Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.

Tensions reached a breaking point on the final Monday Night Raw before the event. The August 25th broadcast saw Jey Uso, CM Punk, and LA Knight erupt into a physical altercation, trading blows just days before their championship clash. Later that night, Rollins interfered in a match to help Bron Breakker defeat LA Knight, further intensifying the rivalry.

Clash in Paris will be held at the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre, France. The show will be the final main roster premium live event to stream on Peacock in the United States before WWE’s content moves to a new platform.
