The first-ever WWE ID Champions will be determined over SummerSlam weekend, with the finals of the inaugural championship tournament set to take place at a Game Changer Wrestling event. The historic title matches will headline GCW’s The ID Showcase on Friday, August 1, in Rutherford, New Jersey, the night before SummerSlam.
The event, which will be broadcast live on TrillerTV, is a special collaboration with WWE and marks the first time a showcase for its independent development program will run alongside a major WWE weekend.
For the Women’s ID Championship, the title will be decided in a Triple Threat Match. The bout will feature Kylie Rae, Zara Zakher, and Zayda Steel competing to become the inaugural champion.
The path to the Men’s ID Championship will be finalized just weeks before the August 1st event. The participants for the men’s final will be determined at another ID Showcase, presented by House of Champions on July 19th in Orlando, Florida.
That Orlando event will feature a number of talents from the WWE ID program, including Timothy Thatcher, The Vanity Project, Adrenaline Drip (Jack Cartwheel & Cappuccino Jones), Sean Legacy, Ice Williams, and It’s Gal.
In addition to the championship finals, the GCW card on August 1st will also feature other talent from the program. Matches already announced include Cappucino Jones taking on Ice Williams and Aaron Rourke facing It’s Gal. Timothy Thatcher, Marcus Mathers, and Jack Cartwheel are also scheduled to be in action.
