Zelina Vega demands recognition from Rhea Ripley
Zelina Vega takes to social media to remind Rhea Ripley of their intense championship encounter at Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico.
Zelina Vega reached out to Rhea Ripley on social media following SmackDown. The interaction occurred when Pop Base’s X (formerly Twitter) account celebrated “National Short Girl Day” with a photo of singer Sabrina Carpenter. Vega used this opportunity to address her past rival directly.
Vega tagged Ripley in response to the post with a clear message:
YEAH, RECOGNIZE ME @RHEARIPLEY_WWE. With everything I deserve.
The history between these competitors dates back to Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico, where they clashed for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Despite a competitive showing, Vega was unable to capture the title from Ripley.
Rhea Ripley sets sights on Women’s World Championship
Building on the momentum of recent events, Rhea Ripley has declared her intention to challenge for the Women’s World Championship. This announcement came after Liv Morgan successfully defended the title against IYO SKY at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Ripley’s return to action follows a period of absence due to injuries sustained in October at NXT, where Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez were responsible for sidelining her. The rivalry intensified at Survivor Series: WarGames, where Ripley led a team featuring Bianca Belair, Bayley, Naomi, and SKY against Morgan’s squad of Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, Rodriguez, and Candice LeRae.
The match reached its conclusion when Ripley executed a Riptide from the top of the structure, driving Morgan through a table to secure victory for her team.
