CM Punk, who lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Night 2, will not face any punishment from WWE after his confrontations with fans over WrestleMania weekend.
According to Fightful Select, TKO has ruled out any internal discipline against the star following the viral incident in which Punk slapped a fan at the MGM Grand Hotel and knocked the phone out of another fan’s hand in Las Vegas.
The issue, as previously reported, began when an individual started invasively filming Bayley and AJ Lee, even shining a camera flash directly in their faces. That set Punk off, leading him to go after the fan and sparking the entire altercation.
Backstage, the sentiment was overwhelmingly supportive. Sources indicate much of the locker room blamed WWE for failing to provide adequate security for the Show of Immortals. The company’s negligence reportedly caused problems for several other talents as well, including Randy Orton, Damian Priest, and many others.
It’s worth noting that, as initially reported by TMZ, the fan whose phone was knocked away does not plan to press charges and is only seeking an apology, meaning the matter is already being treated as completely closed by the company.
