Vince McMahon ordered CM Punk’s removal from WWE venue during AEW contract period

Vince Russo recently shed light on CM Punk’s backstage removal from a WWE venue during his AEW contract period. The incident occurred while Vince McMahon maintained executive authority in WWE, following Punk’s unscheduled appearance at the facility.

Before his removal, reports indicated that Punk engaged in conversations with Triple H and other performers. Security personnel subsequently escorted him from the premises, generating discussion due to his active contractual status with AEW.

During an appearance on Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Outlaws, Russo provided context to McMahon’s decision-making process:

I would say if some of the, not even some of the, one or two, if some key top guys had heat with Punk, and they said something to Vince, Vince would have gotten them out of there before there was gonna be an issue.

The situation highlighted the complex dynamics surrounding Punk’s relationship with WWE before his eventual return to the company.

Dominik Mysterio challenges CM Punk, references past encounters

Dominik Mysterio recently addressed his history with CM Punk, expressing interest in a potential match. Their connection dates back to 2010, when Punk, then leading the Straight Edge Society, interrupted Aalyah Mysterio’s birthday celebration.

The competitors faced each other in December 2023 during non-televised events, with Punk emerging victorious in both encounters. Speaking on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, Mysterio reflected on their matches:

Now that I’m my own man, I would love to get my hands on him again. I’ve seen what he can do. It’s nothing special. I know his moveset.

Mysterio furthered his assessment of Punk’s current performances, describing them as “an old man trying to do his thing.”

Punk is scheduled to compete against Seth Rollins at RAW’s Netflix premiere on January 6, while future encounters between Mysterio and Punk remain unconfirmed.
