Wrestling veteran opposes Paul Heyman betrayal angle in Bloodline saga
Former WWE writer Vince Russo questions potential Paul Heyman betrayal storyline, while The Wiseman shares thoughts on WWE's championship expansion strategy.
Vince Russo has expressed concern over WWE potentially booking Paul Heyman to betray Roman Reigns. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Writing with Russo, the former WWE writer questioned the logic behind turning a beloved figure against The Tribal Chief.
Russo’s comments follow Heyman’s return to WWE television after a five-month absence. Speculation about Heyman’s loyalty intensified after his SmackDown appearance on November 22, where he wore attire matching Solo Sikoa’s – from the blazer to the red t-shirt and handkerchief.
“That’s the thing; for whatever reason, this guy is so beloved; why would you want to swim upstream with Heyman?” Russo said. The veteran writer, while admitting he’s not a fan of Heyman’s signature “ladies and gentlemen” promos, acknowledged The Wiseman’s strong connection with fans.
Heyman addresses WWE title expansion concerns
Paul Heyman has shared his perspective on WWE’s growing championship landscape, expressing caution about title saturation. In a conversation with CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri, Heyman discussed his previous opposition to adding mid-card titles during his tenure as SmackDown’s head writer.
“I’m not a big fan of a multitude of titles unless you can give them enough time,” Heyman explained. His comments follow WWE’s introduction of Women’s United States and Intercontinental Championships.
Heyman emphasized that championship relevance outweighs quantity. “If you can make it relevant, then it will work,” he said. “If you have seven titles and you’re struggling to put relevancy on all seven, then you need to cut down the number that you have.”
