The roster for WWE 2K25 has expanded with the release of patch 1.24, which officially adds El Grande Americano as a playable character. His inclusion, however, has done more than just add a new superstar to the game—it has seemingly confirmed a long-held fan theory about the character’s origins.
Players who accessed the new model discovered that by editing the character’s attire and removing his mask, the face underneath is that of Chad Gable. This serves as the first official confirmation that Gable was the one who originally portrayed the masked character before he was sidelined.
This in-game reveal creates an interesting contrast with the current WWE television storyline. On Monday Night Raw, the El Grande Americano gimmick has been portrayed by Ludwig Kaiser since June 2025. Kaiser took over the role after Gable suffered an injury that required surgery. The on-screen switch was identifiable to viewers by the character suddenly being taller and thinner, and sporting a scar on his arm consistent with Kaiser’s.
In WWE 2K25, El Grande Americano is part of the “New Wave Pack” DLC and is assigned to the Raw brand. The character comes complete with a unique moveset, entrance video, and theme music, and has an overall rating of 85. According to 2K, he was added to the pack as a replacement for an initially planned guest character.
Players who own the New Wave Pack, Season Pass, Ringside Pass, or either the Deadman or Bloodline editions of the game will have access to El Grande Americano automatically.
